- Painting outdoors is a pleasure and helps capture the details of nature. Often the painting is started outside and finished in the studio from a photograph. Experiencing a site with all your senses and transforming this time spent in the natural world onto paper or canvas becomes a visual memory of the day, the location, and the artist's inner world.
